Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and the choices you have.

In short:

  • Your videos are used to make your output, and are deleted after 30 days.
  • You can opt out of any training use. It is on by default at signup.
  • We do not sell personal data.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe.

1.Who we are and what this covers

Cleanoise (“Cleanoise”, “we”, “us”) provides a web service that repairs video recordings. This policy explains what personal data we handle when you visit our website, create an account or use the service, and the choices you have.

We are the controller of your account, billing and website data. For the content inside videos you upload, we act as your processor: we process it on your instructions to produce your output. Contact: privacy@cleanoise.com.

2.Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, password hash or sign-in provider identifier, and your privacy choices.
  • Your content: the videos and audio you upload, the processed files we create, the fix settings you choose and project names. Videos may contain faces, voices and background information about you and other people.
  • Billing data: plan, invoices and payment status. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by us.
  • Communications: messages you send to support, contact forms and feedback.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, timestamps, error logs and credit usage.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: described in our Cookie Policy.

Faces and voices

We do not use faces or voices in your videos to identify anyone and we do not build biometric profiles. Processing is limited to technical analysis needed for the fixes you select (for example separating speech from noise or measuring brightness).

3.How we use information and our legal bases

We use personal data only for the purposes below. If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, the legal basis for each is shown.

4.Model training and your opt-out

You decide whether your content may be used to improve our models. The switch is shown at signup and in your settings and is on by default, meaning opted out. When you are opted out, your videos are used only to produce your output and to operate the service (for example to resolve a support request you open).

If you choose to allow it, we may use your content to evaluate and improve noise, lighting and speech processing. You can change your choice at any time. A change applies to content processed after the change; we do not keep content beyond the retention period in section 6 for training purposes.

We never use your videos for advertising and we never publish them.

5.How we share information

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers (sub-processors) that host, process and store data or take payments for us. They are listed on our Security page and are bound by contracts requiring them to protect it.
  • Members of your plan (for example Team seats) according to the access you grant.
  • Authorities and advisers when the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect people's rights, safety or property.
  • A successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We will tell you and honour this policy for existing data.
  • Anyone else, with your consent or at your direction.

6.Retention

Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule. We may retain limited data longer where needed to resolve disputes, enforce our terms or comply with law.

7.Security

We use technical and organisational measures such as encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. See the Security page for details and how to report a vulnerability. If a breach affects your data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

8.International transfers

We and our sub-processors may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision or the Data Privacy Framework, together with supplementary measures where appropriate. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguard by contacting us.

9.Your rights

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland

You can ask us to: access your data; correct it; erase it; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect earlier processing). You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

California and other US states

Depending on your state you may have the right to know what we collect and why, to access and delete personal information, to correct it, to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither) and not to be discriminated against for exercising rights. We honour browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control where required.

How to exercise your rights

Email privacy@cleanoise.com from your account address. We may need to verify your identity. We respond within one month (45 days in some US states) and tell you if we need more time. Requests are free unless they are manifestly excessive. You can also delete projects, change your training choice and delete your account from your workspace settings.

10.Children

Cleanoise is not directed at anyone under 16 and you must be at least 18 to buy a plan. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it. Videos you upload may include minors only if you have the legal right and any required parental consent to upload them.

11.People who appear in your videos

You are responsible for having a lawful basis and any necessary consent before uploading videos of other people. If someone asks us to remove their image or voice from your project, we may delete the relevant content or ask you to do so.

12.Automated processing

Your videos are processed by automated tools to apply the fixes you choose. We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects through automated means.

13.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.

14.Contact

Questions or requests about privacy: privacy@cleanoise.com, or use our contact page. General support: support@cleanoise.com.

Notice: this page is prepared for Cleanoise and is not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer, and make sure every statement matches how the service actually works at launch.
